Stop Memorizing
Start Understanding
Whether you’re a student who’s fallen behind or an adult returning to school, math and chemistry can feel especially frustrating.
Struggling doesn’t mean you’re “bad at it”. In most cases, key ideas were rushed, skipped, or never fully explained.
The focus here is on identifying those gaps and making the material make sense from the ground up.
The root of confusion is addressed, not just the problem in front of us.
We’ll start with what you’re working on right now, pinpoint where it stops making sense, then fill in what’s missing so it finally clicks.
Concepts are taught as connected ideas, not isolated steps.
The reasoning behind methods is emphasized and abstract ideas are translated into clear, intuitive logic, so learning makes sense instead of feeling like memorization.
Guesswork is replaced with clear thinking.
Rather than trial-and-error or rushing through steps, the focus is on reasoning through uncertainty, recognizing patterns, and making confident decisions, even when a problem looks unfamiliar.
Focus is on fundamentals that transfer to new material.
Core skills and concepts are strengthened so new material builds on what’s already understood and feels more connected and manageable, rather than piling on more confusion.
The goal is independence, not dependence.
Students learn how to think through problems on their own, trust their reasoning, and handle new situations without needing the same kind of help over and over again.

If math or chemistry hasn’t been making sense, you’re not alone.Reaching out is simply a first step to get some clarity, not a commitment to anything beyond a conversation.
The form below can be used to ask questions, share what you’re working on, or explain what’s been most confusing. There’s no pressure or obligation to schedule. Many common questions are also answered on the FAQs page.

1) Do you follow my teacher’s homework and textbook?
Yes. Tutoring is based on the student’s actual class materials, homework, and tests. When helpful, additional teaching materials can be used to fill in gaps or explain concepts more clearly.
2) Do students have to commit to a long-term program?
No. Sessions are scheduled one at a time, and there is no long-term commitment required. Many students do choose to continue, but that’s always optional.
3) Is tutoring only for students who are really behind?
Not at all. Tutoring supports students at many levels: those who are behind, those seeking clearer explanations, and those looking to strengthen foundations.
4) Do you help with just one topic or short-term help?
Yes. Support is available for a single topic, an upcoming test, or a short-term goal. Long-term tutoring is available, but never required.
5) What happens in a first session?
The first session focuses on understanding what the student is struggling with and why. Current material is reviewed, and any important gaps begin to be identified and addressed.
6) Do you work with adult learners?
Yes. Adult learners are welcome, including those returning to school, preparing for the GED, or brushing up on math or chemistry.
For GED math specifically, a complete, structured curriculum is used to guide students through all required topics in a clear, step-by-step way. The focus is on real understanding and confidence-building, not memorization.
7) Do you assign extra homework?
Extra work is only assigned when it will be genuinely helpful. Additional practice is not given automatically. When reinforcement would meaningfully support understanding, extra targeted practice can be provided. Any recommended extra work is intended to support learning, not add stress or unnecessary workload.
8) Where do sessions take place?
In-person sessions are available locally in the student’s home or in a public setting such as a library.
Online sessions are also available via Zoom.
9) What are your rates?
Standard rate is $65 per hour, with a one-hour minimum per session.
Payment is due at the end of each session.
Cash and electronic payment are accepted.
10) How do I get started?
The “Get in Touch” button below can be used to fill out a short contact form, or reach out directly by email, text message, or phone.
Regardless of contact method, messages are typically answered within 24 hours.

Experience & Teaching Philosophy
Professional Tutor (10+ years)

Former Chemistry Professor
Former GED Math Instructor
I break down difficult topics into clear, manageable pieces so students can understand the reasoning behind what they’re learning. Because math and chemistry build on themselves, real understanding matters far more than just memorizing steps. The goal isn’t just better grades, but genuine understanding, stronger confidence, and less anxiety.
Then each new topic feels manageable instead of overwhelming.

Feedback drawn from anonymized student course evaluations.
“If we had a question, he helped us work through the problem so we could find the answer ourselves.”
“The way concepts were broken down made it easier to understand how everything fit together.”
“This was one of the few classes where I actually felt confident about the material.”
